Glen Brittich, Ed.D., Elmhurst University’s director of athletics, has been named interim vice president for student affairs.

The University’s current vice president for student affairs, Phillip Riordan, Ed.D., is retiring at the end of June and the new vice president, Keri Alioto, Ed.D., will join the University in August. Brittich will serve in the interim role from June 30 until August 11, to ensure a continued focus on student support and success.

“I’ve known Glen for 25 years and appreciate his work as a coach and athletic director, as well as the insights he brings as a member of my cabinet, and I appreciate his willingness to step in during this time of transition,” said Elmhurst University President Troy D. VanAken, Ph.D.

I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to guide the Division of Student Affairs during this period,” Brittich said. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dr. Alioto and will ensure a smooth transition as she joins us in August.

Brittich has worked at Elmhurst University for more than 12 years in a variety of roles, beginning as an assistant football coach. He has been the University’s athletic director since 2021, and also serves on the Student Affairs Management Team and as a member of the president’s cabinet.

The opportunity to support our division and our students through this elevated responsibility  is extremely exciting, as it will allow me to continue to serve our campus and students across additional areas of the institution,” he said. As the new academic year is right around the corner, our major focus will be to ensure that we are fully prepared to welcome our students to campus in August and start off the 2025-2026 year on a high note.”

Brittich earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Albion College in Michigan, a master’s degree in health and physical education from Adams State College in Colorado, and a doctor of education from Maryville University in St. Louis.
