Programs of Study

The Department of Biology offers several bachelor’s degree programs for students interested in the biological sciences.

Majors

  • Biology. A B.A. or B.S. in biology opens the door to careers in health care, research, public health, education, pharmaceuticals and much more.
  • Biomedical Science. A B.S. in biomedical science prepares students for future careers in medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant and beyond.
  • Neuroscience. A B.S. in neuroscience allows students to study and research at the intersection of biology and psychology to prepare for careers in research or medicine.
  • Bioinformatics. A B.S. in bioinformatics will provide students the opportunity to focus on the interdisciplinary connections between biology, computer science and mathematics for a career in health care, graduate work, industry and technology.
  • Health Science Technology. This major will prepare you for a cutting-edge career in a health-care field such as diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medical technology or radiation therapy.
  • Medical Laboratory Science Track with Biology Major. The Biology Department has a track for students interested in medical laboratory science.

Minors

    • Biology. If you enjoy learning about the natural world but aren’t prepared to commit to a major, consider a minor in biology.
    • Neuroscience. The neuroscience minor will provide an introduction to the interdisciplinary field connecting biology and psychology.
    • Bioinformatics. For students interested in learning how technology can be used to answer biological questions, consider a minor in bioinformatics.
