Ms. Cannon-Janettas has more than 35 years of experience working in the Illinois Public Schools as a speech-language pathologist, special education teacher for students with significant communication disorders, speech-language supervisor, assistive technology facilitator, special education coordinator, administrator for related services and special education programs, and most recently, director of special education.  In addition to working in the public schools with students ages 3 to 22, Ms. Cannon-Janettas has provided speech-language therapy to adults in skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, and home health.

While working in the public schools, Ms. Cannon-Janettas served as an external placement supervisor, ASHA CFY supervisor, and district mentor for first- and second-year speech-language pathologists. In her administrative roles, Ms. Cannon-Janettas was responsible for supervising and evaluating speech-language pathologists; planning and evaluating related services and special education programs, and designing and providing professional development.

Ms. Cannon-Janettas is a member of ISHA, ASHA, CASE, CEC, and IAASE.  She currently serves as the IAASE liaison to ISHA, and is a member of the ISHA Legislation & Regulations and Schools Committees.  Ms. Cannon-Janettas has a special interest in the role of the speech-language pathologist in reading and written language instruction, special education law, and Universal Design for Learning.
