Dr. Jay has a B.A. from Elmhurst University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

She has worked in a variety of settings including early intervention, public schools, and private practice. She has held several different positions within the Communication Sciences and Disorders department for over 25 years. She has taught many academic and practicum courses within the undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Jay worked closely with emeritus faculty member Dr. Marjorie Goodban to establish the initial graduate program curriculum. She has supervised undergraduate and graduate students on and off campus as they develop their clinical skills. Dr. Jay has a special interest in family counseling and working with individuals with Down syndrome. She recently supported speech-language pathologists across the country as they established free speech and language programming for individuals with Down syndrome as part of the Amina Grace Speech and Language Program at GiGi’s Playhouse.

She is currently teaching the undergraduate capstone course as well as supervising in the clinic. Dr. Jay is a member of ASHA and ISHA and part of the ASHA special interest groups in Administration/Supervision and Tele-practice. She is a past Executive Board member of ISHA.
