Bluejays’ Magical Run Caps off Historic Season

The Elmhurst University men's basketball team gathers in a huddle together on a basketball court.The Elmhurst University men’s basketball team finished as the national runner-up over the weekend to cap off a season that will go down in Bluejay athletics history.

With its Final Four win over Wabash College in the NCAA Division III tournament on March 18, the team reached a school-record 27 wins for the 2021-2022 season. A loss in the next day’s national championship game against No. 1-ranked Randolph-Macon College snapped Elmhurst’s nine-game winning streak during a thrilling run down the stretch.

But the Bluejays finish as CCIW conference champions, and head coach John Baines and guard Jake Rhode were among those singled out for awards and honors as the season came to a close.
