The Chicago Promise

The scholarship will cover 50% of tuition costs for up to four years of undergraduate study at Elmhurst University. Scholarship recipients will also have access to academic and career support services, including tutoring, mentorship and internship opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have graduated from a Chicago Public School and must meet the academic requirements for admission to Elmhurst University. They must also demonstrate financial need and a commitment to serving their community through volunteering or other activities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be Pell eligible
  • Must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.75
  • Must have test scores of 19 (ACT) or 980 (SAT) or provide a college-level essay on a given topic

Chicago Transfer Promise

Elmhurst University is a proud partner of the City Colleges of Chicago. With a common goal of accessibility to higher education we work together to ensure a seamless transfer from the City Colleges of Chicago to Elmhurst University while keeping affordability in mind. As such, we are pleased to offer the following scholarships to CCC students.

Star Transfer Scholarship: $2,000 Annually

Eligibility
  • Membership in Star Scholars Program at one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Cumulative transfer GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application

Star Plus Program Scholarship Accepted by Elmhurst University: $5,000 Annually

  • Offered by the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Can be stacked on top of scholarship offered by Elmhurst University
Eligibility
  • Complete an Associate Degree
  • Transfer for a spring term start date
  • Membership in Star Scholars Program at one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Complete the Star Plus application process

City Colleges of Chicago Award: $2,000 Annually

Eligibility
  • Transfer student from one of the seven City Colleges of Chicago to Elmhurst University

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Undocumented Student Resources

For DACA and undocumented students seeking higher education, we understand the unique challenges you face. At Elmhurst University, we are committed to breaking barriers and ensuring access to quality education. That’s why we promise to offer eligible DACA and undocumented students at least half of their tuition costs in Elmhurst scholarship funding.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You are undocumented and came to the United States before November 1, 2018, and have continuously lived in the United States since then or have DACA or TPS
  • Came to the United States before the age of 16 (if you were born in the U.S. – you are not eligible)
  • Have significant unmet financial need
  • Have graduated or will graduate from a United States high school (or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma) before the fall of 2024
