David DeVasto’s music has been performed in North America, South America, Europe and Australia. His works have been featured at the Sofia Symphonic Summit, Tonal Composers Festival, IAEF International Summer Arts Institute, the Society of Composers, SPLICE Institute, Charlotte New Music Festival, Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers, Electronic Music Midwest, Iowa Composers Forum, Nevada Encounters of New Music, Electro-Acoustic Juke Joint and the Electro-Acoustic Barn Dance.

DeVasto’s Like Water Through a Dream and Synchronic Dances were both finalists for the 2025 and 2024 American Prize, and his Homenaje a Gaspar Sanz received first prize for the 2015 International Composition Competition of The Classical Guitar Society of Victoria in Australia. He has received commissions from The Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival, PICOSA, Duo Tandem, and The Fareed Haque-Wes Carr Duo. His works are published by the SCI Journal of Music Scores and Bergmann Edition, and recordings of his compositions appear on Navona Records.

DeVasto is featured as a pianist on several albums including Tim O’Dell’s  Dreams of Pangea, and an album of original works, Reflection, alongside saxophonist Mark Colby and Trombonist Tom Garling. He founded a string band, Standard Strings, in 2022 that released an album of original bluegrass and jazz music, Tall Tales, and performs regularly in the Chicago area and beyond.

DeVasto has served on the music faculties at McKendree University and Lindenwood University and is currently an Associate Professor in the Music Department at Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois.
