John Towner

John Towner has a long history in the music business.  He has been a teacher, career coach, mentor, and inspiration for hundreds of students, many of whom have gone on to have successful careers in the music industry and music production. He has worked for decades as a professional audio engineer, musician, composer, and performer, having recorded and produced hundreds of areas bands, solo artists and musicians of all styles.  John began teaching audio production classes in 1988 and was hired by his alma mater, Elmhurst University, to teach audio recording and music production in 1994.  He is currently directing the Music Business and Music Production programs at EU.  John has decades of experience in professional audio recording, operating live sound and video, as well as video editing and post-production work.  He has written music in multiple styles for bands, sacred choral compositions, music for small orchestras, and solo performers. Many of his compositions have been published.   His greatest passion, however, is teaching and seeing his students thrive.
